What should I get my masters in?

Postby payden » Sun Nov 22, 2009 1:40 am

I am a chemistry major at Michigan State University right now, pursuing a pre-pharmacy curriculum. The way things are going now, it's my junior year and my GPA is pretty low and I have to retake 2 classes. I don't think I'll get accepted by any pharmacy schools, but I still am extremely passionate about pharmacy and still plan on getting in somehow. So I decided I want to get my master's after undergrad and then apply to pharm school after that. Does anyone know/have any suggestions on what I should get my masters in? I was thinking maybe pharmacology but I heard that is only a Phd program at most schools. any help?

How about another bachelors - maybe in chemical engineering.

Good for you - I always hated chemistry and never understood it.

Or maybe Education if you don't mind teaching.

Consider a grad degree in Petroleum Engineering at West Virginia University in Morgantown. You will make more money and your chem degree is exactly what you need to get in. And your life will be tons more exciting than working behind a counter filling prescriptions.

My daughter in in Marshall and expects to get her civil engineering doctorate there.

The only bad thing is that after football games WVU students have this thing for burning sofas in the street.

I'd bust your *** junior and senior year and apply to Pharmacy school if that's your dream. It's not that competitive. Not more competitive than some graduate schools anyway. Doesn't make sense to go the roundabout route if the direct route is a possibility...
