Eugenics: Planned Breeding For "Fancy" Or Rare Traits In Humans Also Known As Designer Babies?

Ever Since I Was Young I Couldn't Help But Be Attracted To The Rare & Unusual, It Only Got Worse When I Started Dating.

Long Story Short, I'v Been An Animal Breeder All My Life, My Mum Used To Breed Shar Pei & I'v Bred Everything From English Angora Rabbits To Chickens To Guppies To Mystery Snails To Campbells Hamsters To You Get The Picture...It Started Out With The "Normal" Breeds & Verities & Then Went To Rare Colors & Then Breeding For Temperament, Then I Even Got Into Breeding Breeds With Fatal Genes (Such As In The Japanese Bantams)

& Now It Seems I Can't Walk By Someone Without Seeing Them For Their Genetics & In My Mind I'm Thinking Me + Them = 1/4 Of Our Kids Have ___ & The Others Could Get So & So...

Needless To Say I'm Kinda Planning My Own Designer Babies.

So What Do You Think Of Intentionally Propagating The Unusual Variants In Humans?

I believe this branch of science is pushing their limits on human intelligence, they are beginning to step in to the role of "playing
God", and I don't think it this is a good idea.

I think it leads to an odd habit of capitalizing the first letter of every word.

Other than that picking a mate based on desireable genetics is probably the best thing you could do for having a kid... as long as it's your choice and loving the father isn't really as big a concern.

Starting programs to force others to breed based on genetics is where things become questionable... the Nazi's were fond of the idea

That would be purposeful breeding right? Well US has outlawed cloning and i think its okay as long as u want it. In my opinion i think it would segregate the kids from other kids. Besides in order for major differences to surface it takes generations.

You appear to have received the "inappropriate capitalization gene". This is a rare recession gene, often coupled with an IQ of less than 75.

While certain elements of scientific ethics are often up for debate, the idea of using this technology to create "designer babies" is generally regarded as ethically "hands off" territory.

It is a very dangerous game to play, especially since we have not figured out everything about it. Since it is relatively new, and for the most part, experimental, it is risky. We have an obligation to only take those risks for compelling medical benefit (i.e. curing of fatal diseases, preventing genetic mutations etc) To use it to create "designer babies" is a very frivolous use of something it is best not to mess with unnecessarily.

Part of what works genetically is keeping some degree of chance. And while physical traits are attributed to genetics, other traits are often environmental. case in point if you breed ( I use the word "breed", because that is the term that most accurately describes your view of the whole thing)
If you breed with a blonde, blue eyed, rocket scientist who is six feet tall, that's not necessarily what you will end up with for a child.

You might (or might not) have a child with blue eyes and blonde hair who will grow to be six feet tall, but because of something in his life might turn out to be a serial rapist, or whatever.

Your best bet is to meet someone who you really want to spend your life with, someone you are attracted to, who will be a good parent to your children.
Not totally scientific, but then again, yes it is.

Quite frankly, if you want to breed your children like rabbits, there is really no niche for you. It's not fair to the offspring, nor who you breed with. That's where ethics comes in.

Either do it the natural way, or stick to breeding rabbits.
